Tutors Wanted! We are in need of tutors to work with students in English as A Second Language.
Literacy Volunteers Valley Shore, CT Inc. is
always in need of volunteers.
All volunteers do not have to be tutors. There are many other capacities.
Board Members: Kathy Bozzi and the Nominating Committee of LVVS are seeking people interested in serving on our Board of Directors. If you or you know someone who is interested in serving the shoreline communities in a way that gives satisfaction and meaning to others as well as yourself, please contact the LVVS office (860-767-1202 or email lvvs@snet.net).
Board job description: Board members are responsible for providing the human, fiscal, and community resources required to enable and/or enhance the capacity of the organization to achieve a balanced intake and support for tutors and learners. Board members are also responsible for providing the expertise and guidance required to conduct the organization's affairs. Members must attend Board meetings on a regular basis, participate actively on one or more committees, foster the organization's approach to solving the problem of illiteracy, assist in some way with resource development, make a serious commitment to the cause of literacy and understand the goals of the organization.
Office Volunteers: Volunteers are needed to work in our office. They provide coverage when our
paid staff are not present. They work on mailings, filing and other clerical jobs.
This can be a weekly, monthly, seasonal, or on call basis.
Book Sale Volunteers: We are also in need of volunteers to work at our Book Sale.
These volunteers are needed on Friday afternoons. This also can be on a
weekly, monthly or on call basis.
