Trained Volunteer Tutors are matched with students in Basic Reading or English
as a Second language.
Commitment:
One Year minimum
Volunteers do not have to tutor
Qualifications:
No special background or education; Literacy Volunteers provides the
training and support necessary

Once or twice a week for approximately 2 hours for the week
Source of Students:
ESL - their problem is easily recognizable
BR - their problem is easily hidden

$20 Registration Fee for tutors to help defray the costs of training
Success Measurement:
Our students are tested upon entering the program and retested after 40
hours.
Tutors and students set life skill goals. Upon reaching these goals new
ones are set. Certificates of achievement are given upon attainment of
goals.
