Students Name: Debora Franca Tutors Name: Mary-Jane Stanley Time Tutored: 2 months Time in U.S.A.: 4 Years 8 Months Level: 4+ High Advanced       I believe that my future might be affected as an excelent result after I have been tutored by Literacy Volunteers Valley Shore. Once a week I meet with my tutor at the Library in Old Saybrook and I can talk one hour about everything. I read a newspaper, she helps me in my vocabulary. sometimes it’s hard for me to pronunce some words, because my tongue works different.        Every time I’m very excited to practice my English with my tutor. I like to talk about American cultures. It’s totally different than Brazilian cultures. I share my experiences in the week. I explain to her about my dream in the U.S. and she hears my ideas about opening my daycare home. I want to improve my english because when I open my day care home I want to speak freely with parents and it’s very important for me that parents fell comfortable with me, because english is my second language.        I study about laws, daily rotine, what ages work together better to improve my english every day. I need to know new vocabulary about children and everything about day care. It’s good for me!        When we were together the time goes fast. I want to learn and I enjoy my great opportunity, because in my home my family comunicate in Portuguese and I know I have big challenge about learn English, but I love challenges.        I appreciate job that Literacy Volunteers Valley Shore does. I’m sure my tutor Mary Jane makes a difference in my life every week. I want to say thank you for her and everyone that dedicade your time to help people, like me.        It makes a big difference to us.
